What should I do for my first appointment?

1. Ensure you have completed the patient intake form and emailed us any relevant referrals.

2. Email me with any questions prior to the appointment (hello@drkarenli.com.au)- save this email address in your address book in case my emails head to your spam folder. 

3. Make sure you respond “Yes” to face to face appointments or “telehealth” for telehealth appointments with the reminder SMS. 

4. Please don’t knock, I might be with another client. Take off your shoes and either wait outside or inside. I’ll come find you at our appointed time. 

Where is the clinic?

The clinic is located on Leah Avenue, Salisbury. It is 20 minutes walk from the nearest train station and 10 minutes walk from the nearest 124/125 bus stop. We ask that you respect the other residents of the property. 

There are chairs provided in the waiting area inside and outside of the private residence. However, we would recommend arriving as close to the scheduled appointment time as possible.

How do I know that visiting the home clinic is right for me?

There is no disability access or accessible toilets provided at the private residence.

We only support full fee paying patients and those with Medicare Mental Health Care Rebates. All other claims and insurance payments need to be organised by the client themselves.

How do I book individual therapy appointments?

New patients appointments can only be arranged by emailing hello@drkarenli.com.au.

Karen’s calendar and booking system are managed using Halaxy. If you are an existing client, you can book subsequent appointments using the following link: https://www.halaxy.com/book/dr-hoi-yan-karen-li/psychologist/312630/312777 

There is the option to select in person or online appointments. 

What if the times available don’t work for me?

Appointments are released one month in advance in order to better manage my work/life balance and the needs of my family. Email us directly if the times listed don’t work for you. 

How do we cancel or change appointments?

Once you have booked, you can manage your appointments using the link provided in the confirmation email (including to reschedule or cancel appointments).

Otherwise, just email me on hello@drkarenli.com.au Remember there is a cancellation policy to ensure that those on the waitlist can be offered appointments.

What is the cancellation policy?

If you do not show up to your appointment or cancel with less than 24 hours notice, the full fee for a session is payable. If you cancel 48 hours before your appointment time, no fee is payable. 

What if I no longer need appointments?

Please advise us as soon as possible if you no longer require an appointment and we can take you off the cancellation waitlist. Karen is happy to provide a handover to your new clinician as well, please let us know your new clinician’s details.

Other FAQs

How much will it cost to see you at the clinic?

Individual sessions are approximately 50 minutes each, the current rate is $220 per session. Rebates maybe available from Medicare. 

Fees are payable on the day of appointment via an online system, there is no cash kept on premises and we will not accept cash payments at the clinic. In order to claim a Medicare rebate you must have a valid referral. If your referral has expired you will be ineligible for a Medicare rebate. Please provide your bank account details if you wish for us to process your rebate. Find out more about fees here.

How are RO DBT modules?

The current rate is $330 per module for live zoom group psychology sessions and self-paced modules are available at a discounted rate. 

Fees are payable on the day of appointment via an online system, there is no cash kept on premises and we will not accept cash payments at the clinic. Some private health funds may provide rebates for these group sessions, please contact your individual health fund to find out more. 

What if I do not pay for the appointment on the day of the appointment?

The system, Halaxy, will automatically send you an invoice. We cannot guarantee any future appointments if there are outstanding invoices.
